  2. stunning – don’t mind my words – the prince of lightening crashed from the sky with wings – the princess of the sea flashed her tail fin and surged up as they met at the surface of two mediums, neither water nor air

    Hey Sindy,

    How are you? 🙂

So where have you been hiding? 🙂 It’s great to see you back here blogging again…

This is an incredibly inspiring image and one that elicits a myriad of thoughts and feelings, and all of them no doubt stirred by the transcendent power of symbolic form. It is difficult to remain detached from what one feels about the picture to find thoughtful words when words feel so inadequate to delineate any sense of feeling. No Words therefore becomes such a deeply meaningful title.

Expressed through the personified elements of Air and Water, this powerfully attractive and psychologically stimulating painting seeks to simply destroy the isolation and separation of the two realms of the mind.

The mermaid Melusine is a beguiling embodiment of the ache in every man’s heart, the yearning in his soul for exaltation and bliss, and the rapture provoking his every inspired thought. She is the glamorous apparition born from the watery depths of unfathomable mystery whose heralding is the triumph of an artist’s sensual prayer. Melusine is the inspiring allure of beauty as a force of energy, and she transfixes rational prosaic Thought whose heart intensely desires her. What superlatives could describe the measure of emotions that have captivated, intoxicated and overwhelmed Thought to have him descend from lofty heights to be seduced by her goddess-like sensuality, unbounded desire and enticing abandonment. And what passionate longing causes her to pause momentarily above the waterline where she has partially risen and broken through the boundary of her realm to meet him. It must be nothing less than deeply spiritual Love.

In this enthralling narrative of Desire’s evocative dream, Melusine becomes the enchanting spell, the cherished mer-muse, whose material form glides through the mystifying deep blue of imagination’s infinitude, slips beyond wild speculation, slides further still beyond fantasy, and becomes the grace of faith that gives rise to the one ephemeral moment of euphoric perspicacity in an artist’s vision. She is scintillating and provocative and Thought thirsts for her exhilarating touch, as she must also long to feel his breath upon her lips and air within her virgin lungs, and yet within this theatre of cherished love lies the saddening drama of something as yet unobtainable, for she cannot leave her world, nor he leave his and for now at least it would seem that they will always remain divided by the thin veil existing between their disparate elements. It is a saddening and insolvable paradox to consider that Thought lives in air that is made by the same combination of elements that comprise water, Hydrogen and Oxygen, and yet neither Thought nor Melusine can ‘exist’ entirely in either realm. But here within the small fissure that has opened up for them on the surface of the water, the two find one scintillating instant to share the sweetness of a tender kiss. Awe 🙂

From the bay window of my hilltop flat is a panoramic view encompassing an infinite sky that descends to touch the earth and the small city nestled in the bowl of a valley-like landscape. At the outer most reaches of this view one can just discern an estuary that pours in to a vast ocean. On occasions, the smell of sea-salt is carried upon the breeze to drift lazily in to my humble dwelling. As a consequence of being so near to the sea, I often have the opportunity to sit and idly watch the seagulls airborne as they weave and soar and dance upon the unseen currents and formless structure of their infinite space. I think after having seen this wonderful image Sindy I shall not look upon this view in quite the same way ever again. From now on, I might always imagine the sea gulls to be like Thoughts that are carried on the air that will one-day fall upon the surface of the far-off sea to be kissed by Melusine. And such an exciting thought makes one simply yearn to be able to fly…

    Namaste 🙂

    • Dewin, I had No Words because all the loveliest of the combinations of them are in you.

This image is a meeting of two worlds that desire to, but never can coexist. It is the tender longing of an unobtainable love.
