If You Ask Me

If You Ask Me

By

Sindy Simms

If you ask me, ask me who

Who would paint a butterfly blue?

If you ask me, ask me who

Who would hang red feathers from string

Who would hear the angels sing?

If you ask me, ask me who

Who would dream a fairy tale

And who would tell it very well?

If you ask me, ask me who

Who would count the stars for you?

I would answer

It is me

I do

I will paint a butterfly blue

I hang red feathers on string

I can hear the angels sing

I can dream a fairy tale

And I can tell it very well

I would count the stars for you

If you ask me, ask me who

It is me

I do

    Sindy Sue ❤

    • Thanks Linda. It was inspired by the children’s book “The Little Prince” by De Saint-Exupery, a French pilot and writer. It is really written from my inner child to me. Read the book if you haven’t. It is deeply metaphysical and gracefully simplistic. ❤
Love to you, & you ❤

Hi Sindy, I read it in 7th grade French class, but don’t remember it. However Netlflix has a film version. Hope it is still available. I did not know it is metaphysical. Have you read the Prophet? You might enjoy it as it is simple yet profound.

      • You know with as many times as I saw The Prophet on the back of someones toilet in the 60’s, 70’s and so on, no I never read it. I think I shall at your suggestion. The professor said the movie was good but it was different than the book. She also suggested reading it in French if you in fact could. lol It reminded me of Richard Bach’s, “Illusions: the Reluctant Messiah, and I don’t know why? It has been decades since I read that. Could it have inspired Bowie’s The Man Who Fell to Earth?

My French is tres rusty! I also saw the Prophet as a play and it was phenomenally beautiful. Let me know if you decide to read it. I am not familiar with Illusions but have heard of Richard Bach.

    I love this, Sindy.
And I love Le Petit Prince!
I hope you let your inner child write more for us to read!
