Scorpion Killer

“Strange days indeed. Lord have mercy mama!”

On November 1, Día de Muertos, I spent the day with the Brothers Grimm. I have discovered there is a profession that I did not realize existed, because if I had realized this career path was available I might be Dr. Simms, Fairy Tale scholar. Lol When I read those words in the text we are using for my Children’s literature class I thought, “Fairy Tale scholar?” Yes please. However, well I am no Spring chicken. Nonetheless, Fairy tale scholar is a cool title and profession in my book. As I was reviewing the collection of fairy tales to write my literary theory critique I observed that feminist must certainly have a field day in that genre, the maidens, and princesses, are dense at best. The other is the stepmother/temptress archetypes which are horrible. There were a number of passive fathers who did whatever the temptress, usually the stepmother, wished to do. There were very few honorable archetypes represented in the collection which consisted of; Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, Rumplestiltskin, The Frog King, and, Hansel and Gretel.

So, why the title you ask? This occurred what is now yesterday, I worked on my essay for most the day, then as I was getting ready for bed, about 11 P. M. I see a strange shape crawling into my room. I do not recognize it as our abundant cricket population, as I look closer I see it’s curved tail. It was the first live scorpion that I have ever encountered in my life. As it was crawling into my bedroom I panicked and grabbed the closest thing to me, The Complete Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm, and smashed it! Freaky, on 11/1 at around 11, I see and kill a scorpion, while we are in Scorpio astrologically, with The Brothers Grimm, and only two days after my birthday, I kept the scorpion, which I really hated to kill, in a jar.

    Hey Sindy, Namaste 🙂

That’s quite a statement you have made taking a grim volume and smashing hell out of that scorpion. Scorpion killer, are you sealing the jar you’ve put it in Hermetically?

Fairy Tale Scholar. That is a charming title with enchantment, don’t you think? 🙂 Good luck emerging Professor Simms…tis time to get your Alchemy on! See you on the other side 🙂

    • Hey what do you make of the bizarre symbolism? lol

      • Dewin Nefol says:

        Hey you 🙂

I think it a Divinely Feminine symbol: akin to Kali the Destroyer and Builder of inner and outer worlds?

I wonder if the scorpion now feels ‘Grimm but Gracious’ for being smite with Kali’s hefty tome lol 🙂 (now there’s a title for your first book?)

Death, Transformation, Rebirth. That is why one might seal the jar Hermetically.

Professor Simms they’ll call you: the legend who traded stings for wings.

Hope you enjoyed the party 🙂

      • Haha~ Stings for Wings. There is a lid is that hermetic enough?

Perfect 🙂 Make sure no water gets in 😉

Stings for wings and claws for pause and thinking 🙂

    Hey Sindy, Namaste 🙂

I popped back because your wonderful intention to be a Fairy Tale Scholar is an excellent idea. So much so that it left me inspired as well and thoughtful. You’ve always been one to conquer the next peak so this is a natural progression in your thinking. When will you be writing your first book on the subject and what will it be titled? 🙂

The whole Chrysalis phenomenon has occupied my attention in the last few days, but I wrote this after reading your Blog.

Stating one’s future intention is an idea with vision. I think everyone should visit this blog-post and state an intention or ‘vision’ of what is on the other side for them after changing from being metaphorical caterpillars. It’d make for a fascinating collection of thoughts.

Love and Peace to one and all.

    ~ Chrysalis ~ By ~ Dewin Nefol ~

If you do go down to the Woods today,
You’ll be in for quite a surprise,
For every Caterpillar that crawls and slides
Is gathered together for one last ride
For one last ride before transcending!
    ~
On one last glide before ascending
Ascending never-ending on a stairway of gold
To a room on top floor with a crystal dome
A panoramic view a gilded red throne
And space to breathe in a world of your own.
As you liquefy flesh sinew and bone
Reducing down to a point close to gone
But for one thought for one heartbeat a day
And a permeable membrane and an open airway
But for the chemicals contained in the gut
The Caterpillar who crawled in would be in a rut
And stop transforming to crystallise instead
Drowning in the process of being chemically wed
Yet never led by Regeneration from primordial soup
The last hurdle to cross last barrier last hoop
To survive before release from gelatinous gloop
Drying in the Sun beneath a lazy bough stoop
Emergence in the Spring with rising roots
And Shoots and Flutes and Chantilly Lace: When
    Mother Nature paints her face
With the colours of a Goddesses Grace.
Make haste become the Silver Dark Moth,
    Shaman, Guide, Anubis, Thoth.
    Moonlight Flier, Demi God, Wroth,
Midnight Poet who cuts silken cloth
With a blade tailor made for felling fiends
A Caduceus of Truth for differentiating
Fact from fiction and truth from dreaming
In the fabric of everyone’s mind!
Fly high fast Herald fly higher than high,
Reach out golden feathers to soar the sky,
There is No End and No Beginning in how far you’ll fly!
    ~
New wings of gold with a deep silver sheen
With dash and flare and self-discipline
Shall you rise to kneel before the Red Hearted Queen
Will you feel the sword gently tapping
Shoulder to shoulder shall your colours ever bolder
Grow bolder and bolder until you smoulder in Red
When led by a Goddess, a Maiden, a Crone
To your place upon a Wizard’s throne, and
Carved deep into your Earthen bone a title of your very own.
One honoured to serve a land I get to call home
Tis Wales that you dream of and eternally roam.
Thrown clear of the chrysalis trading limbs for wings
And structure for freedom, hear how she sings
When you rise as Merlin, Lord of Enchanting
Charming chastising Magus ever without a frown,
Wizard and Seer Knight of the Crown,
Dark Destroyer and Flier, Psyche of Sight and Sound,
The quicksilver of lightening, the thought buzzing around!
I’m Lord of the Fleur-de-Lys, The Gold-Spinning Alchemist
Sorcerer of Night, Herald of World Peace.

    • Love to comment further but cannot at the moment. I am at a party and I have no internet.

    • The poems are awesome. I love them. It is you who have a book ready for publishing. I dropped and broke my phone, which is how I use the internet so I am at the library for a bit of study. I have spent the morning writing a revisionist Cinderella. I am about half way through. Not for school it just popped into my head. Three weeks a mere 6 class sessions from being done with classes. Crazy huh?

      • Dewin Nefol says:

        Hey Sindy, Namaste 🙂

Aww thank you. If I were rapacious like the little wolf, I would be happily sated by your use of the word awesome lol 🙂 Thank you.

I have a book ready? Where? 😀 The Merlin poem? That old thing? lol 🙂 I must do something with it soon. Thank you for reminding me…putting me back on the path so to speak, you know how I like to roam off the beaten track.

So sorry to hear about your phone being dropped and broken…they seem so fragile. It must be inconvenient without having it, but equally it must also give you time for study back in your life Professor Simms?

A Revisionist Cinderella, hmmm, impressive. And for fun? Outstanding…without the phone you are back in the zone 🙂 I love when you get all fired up and crazy passionate about making the summit of that next high peak. Will you be publishing it somehow…perhaps here on your Blog? 🙂

That is not a whole lot of classroom time left is it? We were only saying at work today how quickly the last half is going. Time seems to fly by. I imagine that when the classes cease the real hard graft starts in earnest 🙂

        Love and Peace. Namaste 🙂

      • True that! 😀 to the last line.

      • Dewin Nefol says:

Really? 🙂 If so then Merlin might be tempted to use another old English phrase, ‘Digitus Extractus!” Which roughly translated is ‘pull your finger out!’ and get your Alchemy on! lol 😀

      • Hey I still have a broke phone and no internet. Thanks for all the chuckles. New Cindy is almost done though.

      • Dewin Nefol says:

        Good morning Cindy, Namaste 🙂

I like the ‘sense’ of the new ‘look’ Cindy imminently emerging next spring from the academic chrysalis a ‘true’ Blue Butterfly with a heart that knows how brightly glows the Temple of the Inner Light.

With Infinite Blue tinting all of you,
O how you will truly delight!
When pure in True Blue through and through,
Shall you flutter at elevated heights.
        ~
Trading stings for wings and claws for pause and thinking,
There’ll be no sinking, no descending,
        But high flight-paths eternally unending,
Forever never ending in an unending Fairy Tale.

‘Splendid’…I’ve never heard you sound so English before lol It’s kind of thrown me lol 🙂

A collection you say? Where? 😀 Maybe one day. I can’t publish what has already been published on Word Press: it is already published. But I’ve other seams in my Welsh mine to mine for new poems…the mine shafts are never-ending so far 🙂

      • Dewin Nefol says:

Well yes you can, but one would have to it oneself 🙂 I have to learn how to do that.

Bull hockey lol 🙂 That phrase still makes me smile. And to recall you weren’t even at the ballgame when asked 🙂

    Psst…waves! Hello!!!
What a cool blog post to come back to!
I think you’d be a great Fairy Tale Scholar. As for your thoughts on the female archetypes, I had a thought, that if we were take those as the divine feminine and the males as our divine masculine…it sorta gels with the idea that the divine feminine has been suppressed for so long..and it is now being awakened?
Also, commenting on this reminded me of this book I half read – that these fairy tales taken from a psychology POV, for example – sleeping beauty and the prince penetrating the dark forest to save her – is basically talking about intercourse!! LOL, I can’t remember much other than that, though.
