The Harnessed Bunny

asian-fae

An interesting specific totem archetype surfaced the other day. As I was leaving Hogwarts, which is what I call the Language Arts building at school, I saw a couple sitting under a tree with a bunny on a harness. I didn’t give it much thought other than, “Oh how cute.” You know a typical response. Once home for my couple hour break before returning across town to campus, I decided to read my Fairy tarot, one of the cards I drew was The Prince of Spring (Wands), “On the card the prince rides a rabbit, moving quickly from one adventure to another!” Immediately I observe the synchronicity, and I thought “How curious?” I though “Where is the third?” Then I realized a novel I had just started reading, The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, by E. Lockhart, has a protagonist who is called “Bunny rabbit” by her family. So, what does this all mean? I mean it is too odd to mean nothing.

I know standard rabbit symbolism; fertility, abundant sexuality, abundance, so forth and so on. In two instances harnessed, and actually as well in the third with the novel’s heroine, Frankie. Since I will not go into the novel suffice to say, she is restrained by society, by her family, her gender, so forth and so on. In brief the narrative is about a girl, a secret fraternity at a top boarding school, a side of society not many are privy to. Therefore I will look at the symbolism.

I ran across an article I had not read before that seemed primarily to speak to me in this regard.

Rabbit Power Animal Symbol of Creativity, Intuition, Paradox, and Fear

By Ina Woolcott

Rabbit is interpreted in different ways in different cultures. In China, it is one of the astrological animals and linked too good fortune and the moon. People born under Rabbits sign are believed to be artistic and sensitive. The Rabbit is also linked with the goddess Hecate. In some Native American traditions Rabbit is known as the Fear Caller, due to it projecting its fear of those wishing to eat it, and thereby attracting the predators it fears. Ever heard the phrase scared as a rabbit? Well, rabbits are well known as timid, shy and afraid creatures. We can learn from the rabbit that if we are always afraid of something then we may draw/create the very experience we are afraid of in to our lives. Fear sends out a certain vibrational energy that may attract the very thing we fear. Fearful thoughts reproduce (like rabbits) and manifest what we fear. Rabbit people may be afraid of tragedy, illness, and disaster, thereby calling those very fears to them to teach them lessons

If a rabbit lives in constant fear of being eaten by an eagle, then this increases the chances of this happening by sending out negative energy. The rabbit should dedicate his time and energy to becoming clever and cautious in order to outwit the eagle. If the rabbit finds you then ask yourself whether you are worried or afraid of something. Ask yourself what the best way to handle the situation is. Are you able to let go of your fears? Is there a friend who is able to help you, someone whom you trust? Whatever, living with fear is no good for you.

Rabbits are guides into the shadow world, where our personal fears lie. When the rabbit shows up it is time to examine those deep reflexive fears that hold you back from growing. Do you keep bounding for the safety of your old patterns every time something new or challenging presents itself? If the answer is yes, the rabbit asks you to face your fears with compassion for yourself. You must accept that it is part of human nature to feel fear at times, but also believe that our fears need not paralyze our growth and movement.

Rabbit medicine is also very positive, showing us how to attract love, abundance, health, and a warm, dry burrow. We are guided to move through fear, living by our own wits, receiving hidden teachings and intuitive messages, quick thinking, strengthening intuition, and paradox. Rabbit represents humility, being quiet and soft and not self-asserting. If you see Rabbit or in any way feel attracted to him, this may be a sign for you to wait for the forces of the universe to start moving again, to stop worrying and to get rid of your fears. Rabbit always indicates a need to re-evaluate the process you are undergoing, to rid yourself of any negative feelings or barriers, and to be more humble.

Rabbits are vegetarians. Though they are eating, they are always alert. They eat the inner bark of saplings and shrubs as well as leaves and fruit, giving a perfect illustration of Nature’s balance. Their rapid rate of reproduction is balanced out by the fact that almost every predatory animal eats them. This power animal may be asking you to examine the kinds of foods you eat. Perhaps a vegetarian diet, only for a short time, can help you strengthen and heal. Generally rabbits are most likely to be seen between dawn and dusk. The sun rising and setting from horizon to horizon has an air of mystery surrounding it. This is the time when the invisible becomes visible and nature spirits are more distinct. Due to the rabbit and the fairy realms being active at the same time of day, rabbit has a strong link with the magic and mystery of other worlds. To enter these worlds requires but a leap of faith. Rabbits are highly sensitive with keen observational skills, granting them strong reflexes that help them dash to safety. In the time it takes to bat an eyelid, they can be seen, disappear and reappear. Fast, agile and clever, they teach us spontaneous decisive movement, always knowing which direction to go and when. When rabbit appears, this may help us to grasp an opportunity that may only present itself for brief moments.

Rabbits tend to move suddenly and unpredictably. They leap and bound their way through life. If rabbit has entered your life, you may find tat your endeavors also go in leaps and bounds. Maybe this is an indication for you to plan more or to check any plans already set in motion. Do not corner yourself. Pay attention to your personal movement. Growth is assured if one is moving in balance with what is occurring in their life. If one moves too fast or too slow an imbalance occurs and growth is stifled.

We are able to realize what a good teacher Rabbit is in showing us that we are the creators of our lives with our thoughts and emotions. Rabbit feels fear and projects it, creating in the external world situations reflecting the inner world of fear. For us, this is an important lesson. Affirmations, involve focusing on what you want in life and positive outcomes. Thoughts have a certain energy frequency, creating a vibration aiding them to become reality. Just as true when you think about and focus on what you don’t want to happen, a lot of the time we don’t even do this on purpose we do it automatically and even subconsciously, gathering strength unknowingly. This makes it extremely necessary to bring our fears into consciousness – into the light, treating them with gentleness.

Rabbit ability of being alert and aware of its surroundings ALL the time, can help us be aware that we ALL have the power to create with our thoughts and to be aware of them, to redirect them on a positive path and to be focused on our dreams, not allowing our focus to be distracted from our intentions with negative emotions, especially from actualizing our wishes and dreams.

Peacock’s, Pomp & Circumstance

Most of my blog buddies are friends on Facebook, so y’all are up to date. Graduation was fun, It felt like an accomplishment although it was just community college. Boy I love, love that school, and had such erudite professors, who are great teachers. As education is my major, I always got a twofer; I was learning say Literature, and watching their teaching style. All of the professors were there to congratulate us, and that was a cherished moment. Oh, and I got to walk to Pomp and Circumstance! (You can see it on my Facebook page.) Today I met with my ASU, Mary Lou Fulton Teaching College adviser, Chris, super nice guy. We took the light rail to the Tempe campus, so it was also an adventure. Parking is super expensive there, and I would get some exercise if I chose that method of transit. I am also considering taking my bike, if my knee is down with that. So more delays, I have to get my finger print card, I had no idea but I start teaching in a classroom my first semester, one day a week. Wow, jumping right on into this. Well that is pretty much it, things are flowing it a it better than that last month, my computer is in the shop yet again.

A special thank you to all my friends, and family for all the beautiful roses, card, parties, best wishes. . . it was really, really cool! I am blessed!

I am inspired by peacocks lately, and I know I have covered its symbolism before, as well, as Julianne, at Through the Peacock’s Eyes, and others, but I will include a bit here anyways.

Let’s look at a smattering of ideas, shall we?

Well before January 5th, 2016 when Mercury goes Retrograde. Great way to start the year, Well I just discovered that, so moving forward. Doreen says, the angels say, “we are going through energy reassignment.” My friend has been telling me that as well.

Here is Anna Merkaba at Sacred Ascension‘s take:

“Beginning December 25th, 2015 with Uranus stationing direct, all major planets in our solar system will be moving direct/forward, Manifestations can be quickened during this time.

Through the planetary alignments you shall feel a difference in your understanding of self. You shall be presented with various outcomes and timelines from which to choose from in order to continue your mission here on earth, and the timelines that you shall see, shall be seen by all and selected by all whom you are to be walking with on your path.  A mutual cognition of a new reality structure and a mutual agreement upon the timeline and experiences to be had shall be made…

…For through fully aligning yourself with the Fifth Dimensional frequencies you shall then be able to manifest the realities of your choice! You shall then be able to fully move into  a new phase, whereby all the senses of your present cognition and those unbeknownst to you yet, shall activate and allow you to see beyond the veil, allowing you to experience a different type of reality of BEing, allowing you to walk through veil of forgetfulness arriving at the very core of your own being, communicating freely with those of the higher dimensions and those of the third dimensional earth…

…The acquisition of new technological prowess has allowed humanity to enter a new era of technologically driven automation. And it is through the technology sector of your world, that your earth shall see a rise in new biological structures which will allow you to propel the knowing of your true origins and agendas placed before you by your higher selves upon the entrance into the Matrix System of Planet X…

For through the knowing of your past the knowing of your the true origins, humanity shall be able to take the final step into the destination of full awakening, into the destination of full awakening to that which they are, and propel themselves further still…

….It is through the new seedings, who shall walk freely amongst humans, carrying the collective consciousness of all who have come and gone. It is through these new beings the “new kids”, who shall transform said energies and absorb said energies and erase the past in human cognitive understanding, that the change that you all are longing to uphold shall take place.

It is through your endeavors and the endeavors of your kind shall the earthlings finally be able to grasp the understanding of Karma, and release it once and for all from their memory banks. And it is through the endeavors of each and every single soul presently occupying time and space continuum on the planet known as Gaia that the experiment of the 3rd dimension shall come to an end…”

STING

Well we just left Scorpio, but Scorpion’s haven’t left me. They’re everywhere. lol Starting with me, my sister (who I share a house with,) my boss, and my boyfriend. Yeah, that’s a lot of Scorpio….not to mention all of you whom are. So, I do not remember many dreams for awhile now, perhaps because I like to take something to sleep? I don’t know. At work we are talking about bugs and being scared by them, and a gal said I am terrified of scorpions, and I had a flash, a memory of a dream. In the dream I was under a tree, and like “Little Miss Muffet” who sat on her tuffet, a scorpion dropped down in front of me and I flicked it away. That’s it, so therefore the symbolic meaning of scorpions.

I love her website, so check it out for more symbols, totems. . .

~~~~~~~
Symbolic meaning of Scorpion
A potent message the Scorpion chooses to express is that of protection and/or isolation. In fact, they themselves are quite solitary – part of the reason why they symbolize In fact, many people with the Scorpion as their totem tend to have brief spells of passion with a partner only to end the relationship and spend long period’s content to be alone.
The Scorpion will mate in an exotic, dance of passion and control. The Scorpion sex dance is one of beauty, control, and calculation.
The female allows her new offspring to ride on her back until they shed their first exoskeleton – then her offspring leaves her – all of them going off to their lone, solitary lives – another example of intensity in relationship followed by isolation.
Defensiveness/control/protection is evident in the Scorpion’s appearance – which seems to say “Do not trifle with me.” One look at this magnificent creature says “back off!” does it not?
As another symbol of protection – we can consider the venomous tip of the scorpion which numbs its prey as well as makes its prey chemically digestible for the Scorpion. Whether the Scorpion intends to eat the victim of its sting is irrelevant because its sting will most certainly protect the Scorpion in order for it to live another day.
In Samaria, the Scorpion is associated with the Sun, and ancient writings depict Scorpion-men guarding (protecting) sacred gateways leading to ascension, pleasure and enlightenment.
Death symbolism comes into play in Greco-Roman mythology where Artemis (Diana) used the Scorpion to sting Orion’s foot, which caused his death. Afterwards, Zeus (Jupiter) made the Scorpion a zodiac sign among the stars.
There are some species where the venom is actually the antidote for its sting (like cobras). In Egypt and Tibet this is seen as an omen, and the Scorpion is made into an amulet – signifying protection and warding off evil. In Africa, the Scorpion is also seen as a healing sign – its venomous oil used for medicinal purposes.
When we consider the message this incredible creature has for us, we must first consider its outstanding features, which are the Scorpion’s natural protective/defensive mechanisms. For example, consider the Scorpion’s hard exoskeleton as a line of defense. Also consider its sharp potentially damaging pinchers – not to mention its venomous stinger.
The symbol meaning of Scorpion, much like its appearance, can be little foreboding. That is, if we do not have the inner eyes to see the beauty and complexity of its symbolism.
Although the symbol meaning for Scorpion can appear a little harsh at first glance, when we really contemplate the Scorpion in all its wonder – then compare these meanings against the events in our own lives, we will inevitably find a common ground and learn some timely lessons from the Scorpion too.
Below are a few facts on the symbol meaning for Scorpion along with some cultural history and background.
Therefore, as a symbol meaning, the Scorpion represents protection. When the Scorpion makes an appearance in our lives, it is beckoning us to consider the following:
Symbolic Messages from the Scorpion
What needs protecting in my life?
Am I being overprotective?
Am I being defensive? Why?
Am I afraid of being vulnerable?
How do I feel about control in my life? (too much, too little)
Flocks Of Love
a_perfect_couple_-_56_x_40cm_0
Was it the sweet moonlight visitation of the Goddess Lakshmi, or was it Amy, at The Dream Well, telling me of the flocks of wild parrots? I don’t know, but I do know that my wish was granted, as yesterday a flock of twenty, or so parrots, who were first heard, and then landed in my back garden. I was astounded, a flock of parrots in Phoenix, Arizona? So as we do, I Googled it. Sure enough the African Peach Faced Love Birds thrive in the wild here. Who would have thunk it? Not I. Awhile back I saw a bright spot of yellow in one of my trees, but thought again it was possibly a lost pet.
In a way they are a manifestation, as I have long wished for colorful birds, and they are certainly a totem, and now I will say amplified. From my previous post, October Totem,
“Parrot is a magical totem that teaches us that the world is full of possibility.”
I really find it magical. The article linked above said that they did not appear to be affecting the local ecosystem, and that their flocking pattern help them to allude predators, such as hawks, so they flourish.
Thank you for the healing which is still requested.
October Totem
abstract-parrot-images-3
So today I have an unlikely totem visit my backyard, obviously someone’s pet parrot is loose.
Parrot as a totem
The parrot as a healer would be representative of both a color therapist and a speech therapist. Parrot is a magical totem that teaches us that the world is full of possibility. The role of the parrot is that of a linguist opening communication centers. When parrot totem appears look to see if you need assistance in understanding views that are different from your own. It may be time to widen your horizons or sign up for a class to learn a new language
With its brightly colored feathers, the parrot is considered a bird of the sun. The attributes of color and association with the life-giving sun are what gives it its magic. Parrot feathers can be used in prayer sticks for powerful healing rites and also to invoke the energies of the sun at any time of the year.
Some parrots are taught to mimic humans. Because of this ability, the parrot is considered a link or bridge between the bird kingdom and the human one. In this sense, parrots can be viewed as ambassadors, diplomats, or interpreters for the bird realm. They have a magic that can awaken a diplomacy within and enable you to understand others more effectively.
In the Pueblo tradition, parrots are associated with the gathering of salt. Salt was a precious commodity, and the places where salt was found, were considered a gift from the sun. Since the parrot was a bird of the sun to the Pueblo, there is that correlation. But the most noticeable attribute of parrots is its bright colors. Anyone with a parrot as totem should study colors and their effects. Thus the parrot can be a wonderful teacher of the power of light and color.
It is once again that time of year….”What time is that?” you say? $19.98 wind chimes on sale for $1.98!!! I have been patiently waiting for the wind chimes to go on sale, I had my eye on one with a deep beautiful tone. I went into Walgreen’s everyday, “They on sale yet?” “No.” “On sale yet?” “NO.” So I let a week go by, they went on sale, and somebody else got the wind chime. lol Still I got several new ones…. Wind Chimes in a Gentle Breeze
The change of summer to fall is in the air. Fall here is as awesome as Spring, and Winter here, in Arizona is beautiful. Yea, I survived summer, when I tell you HOT, you have no idea, but I am blessed and my house was cool all summer. As Fall and my birthday next month approaches I feel so excited, and enthused.
Spiritually, socially, culturally, and cosmically things feel good. There appears world unrest (Sorry but I do not watch news), I know it can look bad, but I believe sometimes old paradigms have to go so new ones can begin. I have posted a lot on Quantum thinking, as my fellow Scorpio sister, Ms. Linda does as well. Speaking of which Linda is hosting an apropos  blogging challenge, Time Machine Blogging Challenge, come and join us, it will be great fun. I will add a synchronous story that just happened last night. I ran across a Bruce Lipton video, Biology of Belief, that I had stashed it in my Watch Later playlist, so I mosey over last night before bed to watch a bit of it. Firstly he starts talking about the same material we are covering in my Physical Anthropology class on DNA, cells . . . but from a current scientific view, fascinating. Then I see 111/111, this was the 111th video. I was just very amused by that. Oh I added a video so now there are 112, but Bruce is still the 111th.
All is well with school, and my life in general.
