8 Simple Ways To Reach A Higher Vibration
By, Jenna Wylie
We all have times where life isn’t clear and we feel like we’re walking through mud. Here are a few tips to help us find more happiness and fulfillment, and make it through the ups and downs!
1. Sleep
Now for those of us who aren’t mentally on top of our game, sleep (too much or the inability to sleep at all) may be a nightly battle. A few tips to more restful sleep:
- Spend time earthing every day. This means getting your bare feet in contact with the ground. The earth’s energy is very healing and there is a lot of evidence that when we connect with the earth our circadian rhythm becomes more normalized, thus helping us sleep and wake up at healthy times. You can even make or buy grounding pads to sleep on to maximize the benefits of earthing.
- Create a good sleep environment. Cool and dark works best for most people. Try to keep your room as free of electronics as possible. There is evidence that EMF’s can be a cause of insomnia and sleeping disorders. Turn your phone on airplane mode and leave your computer in another room or away from the bed. Be aware of walls with lots of hidden wires, or smart meters on the outside wall of your bedroom.
- Before you go to sleep, write down everything that is on your mind. List the things that are bothering you or that you’re worried about or just the thoughts that won’t leave you alone. A ‘brain dump’ so to speak, that you can leave on your nightstand to think about tomorrow.
2. Spend Time Outside
It is easy to hide away indoors when we are feeling ‘off’ but going outside and spending time in nature can be soothing and very healing.
Whether it’s going for a walk, playing an outdoor sport, or simply splattering yourself out on the lawn (my personal favorite,) reconnect with mother earth to find inner peace.
3. Hang with the Right People
“You become like the 5 people you spend the most time with.”
Even on my lowest days, my husband always manages to poke through my walls and make me laugh. His ability to love me on any kind of day gives me safety and support that is priceless.
Sometimes this means letting go of someone. Spend your time with those who lift you up, love you, and encourage you to be your true self.
4. Get in this MOMENT
“The secret to change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new”
~ Socrates~
In his book ‘The Screwtape Letters,’ C.S. Lewis tells of letters written from a senior Demon Screwtape to his nephew Woodworm, a junior ‘tempter.’ Woodworm is responsible for the undoing or damnation of a certain human referred to as ‘The Patient.’
One of the demons’ tactics is to keep The Patient focusing constantly on the past or future. They know that if they successfully keep him from thinking about the moment, if he is consistently stuck on things in past or future, he will never be able to accomplish what is important in the now.
Do what it takes to let go of the past. Who you are today is more important than anything you have been, and will determine who you will be. Learn how to pull yourself back into the present.
5. Be Honest
A lot of anxiety and sadness comes when we lie to ourselves or those around us. This also applies to times when we ‘hide’ from those we love out of fear. The truth is, people who truly love us will keep loving us no matter what.
It is easier in the end to be honest and upfront with those close to us than to bury ourselves behind a good face.
I heard once that we all have three selves: who we are when we’re alone, who we are when we’re with close friends/family, and who we are when we’re in the general public.
The closer these three selves come together, the happier and more content we will be. We need to learn to to be true to ourselves, to be free, and to give others the same privilege.
6. Find Your Confidence
When depression sets in, when anxiety wrings you dry, when you’re in a fog and just aren’t sure of anything anymore… breathe. Remember that you are a piece of the universe. You are one with the stars and the galaxies and the birds above your rain clouds.
Look deep inside and find that connection with God or the Universe or Mother Earth, and know that you are not alone. This moment of dark won’t last.
Feel what needs to be felt and then hold your chin up and face your demons with power. This life is yours. Though your mind and ego may seem to hold the reins, in reality they belong to you and you are the master.
7. Balance Your Chakras
A lot of instability emotionally comes from your energy being unbalanced. This can happen for many reasons, and is often subconscious until you pay specific attention.
Balancing your chakras is an excellent way to meditate, clear muddy energy, process emotions that are stuck, and become more in tune with yourself. Here is a simple method I’ve found effective:
- You can do this anywhere anytime but I’ve found it is easiest if you are somewhere comfortable where you can relax. Lay down or lean back in your chair.Take some deep breathes and try to let go of external distractions. Focus on your breathing and on feeling your body.
- Let yourself focus on your energy. It surrounds you, runs through you, and is in constant motion. It is connected with the earth and the universe and everything that is in you.
- Start at the bottom and either physically or in your mind hold your hand over the chakra, and move it clock-wise motion with the flow of energy. This is more about feeling than thinking. Focus on the flow and whether or not it feels fluid and clear. If not, focus on the imbalance. Is there physical discomfort? Thoughts or images that come up? Accept, process, and continue in motion with the energy until it is clear.
- Move up to the next chakra and repeat. Continue until you’ve gone through each chakra individually.
For more specifics about the chakras, please see here.
8. Spend Some Time With an Animal
Who doesn’t feel better after cuddling a puppy? Or having a kitten on their lap? Or even getting to hold a big reptile? For me, almost nothing compares to being with horses.
Their beauty and power have always touched a deep place inside of me. Animals, because they accept and love us so easily, have great ability to help us accept ourselves and experience healing. Go play with a pet!
Here’s to all of us and our journey and the growth that comes with it. May we find in ourselves our greatest potential and happiness!

Black Butterfly Meaning
By Rutuja Jathar
The black butterfly meaning and symbolism changes from one culture to the other. In all, it is somewhat similar to the meaning of black color.
Morning light, silken dream to flight
As the darkness gave way to dawn
You’ve survived, now your moment has arrived
Now your dream has finally been born
Black Butterfly, sailed across the waters
tell your sons and daughters
what the struggle brings
Black Butterfly, set the skies on fire
rise up even higher
so the ageless winds of time can catch your wings…
Most of you must have heard this beautiful song by Deniece Williams. The above mentioned verse itself explains a lot about the symbolism and meaning which can be related with black butterflies. As we know, all the types of tiny and beautifully colored butterflies have always been associated with grace, elegance and beauty. Naturally, butterflies are used for symbolizing femininity, style and charm.
On the other hand, the black color is associated with numerous human emotions and qualities that are often overpowering. These qualities are – power, authority, sexuality, mystery, sophistication, elegance, style, anger, fear, unhappiness, evil, depth, sadness, death, mourning, remorse and the unknown. I think, the same symbolism of black color is likely to have been linked up with butterflies; which created the theory of black butterfly meaning. Nevertheless, the symbolism and the constructs that are related with black butterflies, have alluded many of us, at least once. So, now is the time to find out what black butterfly actually means in different cultures.
Symbolism and Meaning of Black Butterfly
As far as lepidopterology (a scientific branch that studies butterflies and moths) is concerned; the black and deep colors of butterflies are a result of the melanin color pigments present in them. Let’s look into the symbolism of black butterfly.
Metamorphosis: In many cultures, it is believed that black butterflies are the symbol of transition, renewal or rebirth. It is also believed that black butterflies could be a symbol of rebirth of something or people. They are also symbolized for longevity and shift in the power. In short, black butterflies are supposed to be the sign of positive change in the present situation.
Death Warning: In various parts of the world including Central America, Philippines, China, black butterflies are considered as a symbol of death. Hence, according to these people, a black butterfly or moth in the house is the warning of death of a member of the house. They also appear in the house when someone in the house has already died.
Dead Souls: According to the fascinating (and a bit scary) lores of the land of the Celts or Ireland, black butterflies are nothing but souls of the deceased people. According to Irish people, when deceased people fail to discover their Afterlife, they turn into a black butterfly. Hence, these butterflies can enter the house or properties where they once belonged as a living soul.
Witch Camouflage: The infamous witches are also associated while explaining the meaning of a black butterfly. According to the folklores, witches transform themselves into black butterflies so that nobody can recognizes them while stealing various foods that they need to eat! This is especially evident with reference to black butterflies or moths that appear in or around the houses at night.
Fire Goddess: According to Aztec mythology, Obsidian Butterfly or Itzpapalotl was the warrior goddess of fire and infant mortality. In historic documents, Itzpapalotl is associated with moths, deer and black butterfly. She is described as the star demon who devours people during solar eclipse. According to iconography, she camouflages in the forms of various creatures and insects so as to stay unrecognizable.
Positive Symbolism: No matter whether you believe in the black butterfly symbolism or don’t; you can still take out a few positive meanings from the aforementioned butterfly symbolism. At least that is what most of the people do while getting butterfly tattoos. You see, in most of the stories, black butterfly is associated with change, transition, freedom and rebirth. It is symbolized as death – assume it as the death of all the bad things and misfortunes!
All these things are both mythical and real. Mythical – if you want to take them in the negative manner; and real – if you want to take them in a positive manner.

Bright Promise
I hope that everyone is having a great Holiday Season with family, and friends. I know that I did. There were moments so blissful that they were almost surreal. This morning I read a couple of great blog post. One was by Bella Capozzi, The Angel Diaries. Bella summed up my feeling in this post, A Kinder, Gentler World. My Experiences With Life After 12-21. She speaks of her thoughts and experiences of life post 12/21/12, on Ascension and changes, I too feel I am in a kinder, gentler world, as I too feel kinder and gentler.
The second one was a post by Leigh, at Notes From The Bluegrass. Leigh spoke of her reactions and self-observations on the Newtown tragedy and Ho O’ Pono Pono and cleaning it in ourselves. Both really awesome post.
Also, I wanted to share a very excellent result of my Chopra 21 Day Abundance Meditation Challenge. I have been without a car for a couple of years and totally not expecting, was gifted my Mothers old car, refurbished, by her and my Step Father for Christmas. How cool is that? Well for me, it is pretty darn cool.
Additionally, I will be making a major move this coming month from Louisiana to Arizona, much closer to my friends and life in Los Angeles. So I am excited. I am very hopeful and positive about our New Year 2013. As long as those of us who have been called to awaken to our destiny, continue as we have, our world has a bright load of promise and miracles, joy, harmony and happiness.
Peace & Love

Don’t Go Back To Sleep
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across
the door sill where two
worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep.
Do you listen to that which the breeze tries to tell you?
What do you want and are you asking for it?
Is your heart open? Is your mind open? Is your life open?

All The World Is A Stage
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms.
And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress’ eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon’s mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper’d pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.
William Shakespeare
So many things are swimming in my cerebral cortex;Rome, Alexander The Great, Freud, My Play, Wagner, Mine in a Box, Money, Scooters, sister’s friends Dreamweaver, auditions, Christmas, essential oils, it was my Mom’s birthday and so on…….
The many, many people in my life are players; you all are players in my play. I think about you, I talk about you, I show others your blogs, you influence and inspire me. You excite, educate and encourage me. You support and honor me, and I you.
Thank you everyone for sharing your wonderful talent and your heart.
I am grateful to know you.
