Boxes

Little Boxes

The correlation with the title and the image is obscure, so I will explain. I recalled a Katherine Ace painting with boxes, so I went to look at her art. Just yesterday I had gotten hot and threw my hair up, my student laughed and said I looked like a character from Whoville. Basically I had Whoville hair. I laughed too, of course I redid my knot. So I saw this painting and  love it, Girl with No Hands, by Katherine Ace.

But now to boxes. I have this “thing” for boxes. I love them. I am all like “Wow this is a great box, I’m going to keep it”. Big boxes, small boxes, brown, white, or decorative boxes, any box that is a good box. It is strange. I often ponder which lifetime I created this love of boxes? It works out well when friends are moving, and I always have a box when I need one.

I still love this woman’s work. Happy almost Spring. Spring break from school anyways. I have just about finished my first year teaching and lived to tell the tale. I survived a state audit but will I survive this influenza that I caught? My god! If you have had it, you have my deepest sympathy.

Ashputtle is part of Ace’s fairy tale series, and has always been a favorite, “Cinderella”, of the ashes. Like the phoenix she will rise, she soars to the pinnacle, the top of the heap. In the spirit of the painting I published my retelling of the Grimm classic “Ashputtle”, and it is called, “Bad Cindy“. I am sure it is full of typos and grammar errors but it was now or never.

Happy Almost Spring everyone. I went wind chime shopping yesterday, and I bought an adorable lizard sculpture I named Lenny the Lizardy.

Raise Your Vibrations

By Robin Marvel

OM Times

Your Personal vibration is a lot like your fingerprint; it is unique to you as an individual.  Each moment, we have the opportunity to raise our vibrations, resulting in a healthy mind, body & spirit.  Living a conscious, positive lifestyle will encourage a strong inner core as well as raise your vibrations.  Enhance your life by choosing to experience elevated vibrations.  This will benefit you and all those you come in contact with.

5 Surefire Ways to Raise Your Vibrations

Live in Gratitude

Find something as simple as a plant in your home.  Take some time to appreciate the beauty the plant has added to the room and your life.  This works to shift your attitude because it is impossible to be in a state of gratitude and unhappy at the same time.

Visit/Call a friend who has a positive personal vibration

Just being in contact with a person with a positive personal vibration will boost your levels immediately.  High vibrations always dominate low vibrations.  Socialize with those with high personal vibrations and elevate your spirit!

Hold Your Power

Holding your power means being true to you.  The demands a person deals with can be overwhelming.  The things we need to get done and taking care of everyone else.  You have to remind yourself that it is ok to say no.  This means saying no to your spouse, your children, your parents, your boss and the list goes on and on.  Nurturing yourself is so important because if you are not true within yourself, you cannot be true to all those in your life. Taking the time to honor who you are does not mean you have to go out and spend money; it only means devoting some time to who you are!

Practicing Acts of Kindness

Doing nice things for others is a surefire way to elevate your spirit.  Every person you encounter is busy on their own path.  Offering a kind smile or a compliment can change the moment as well as someone’s entire life, not to mention the change it creates in your life as well.  A great affirmation to practice while exploring acts of kindness is “because nice matters” Do not underestimate the distance kindness travels.

Living a Healthy Lifestyle

Your body is your temple.  You have the opportunity to decide the health and wellbeing of your body.  By nurturing your body with positive energy, good foods, and exercise you are creating a strong, resilient, healthy lifestyle.  Living a healthy lifestyle includes taking care of your integrated whole:  mind, body & spirit.  All low vibrations and illnesses start on the inside and reflect throughout your life.  Some great ways to live a healthy lifestyle are eating good foods, practicing positive affirmations and exercising your body.

ONE WITH NATURE   “Isn’t Earth a lovely place to spend some time? Take a few moments to drink in the beauty of this planet. Focus on the flowers and plants. Feel gratitude for the animals that hold everything in balance. Be appreciative of the water sources that provide nourishment for your body and soul. Feel the magnificence of the mountains, the prairies, the seaside and deserts. Breathe it all in and receive the nurturance that Mother Nature provides for all.

We offer you an exercise to help become more in tune with the energies and sentience of the Beings around you. The best place to do this is in Nature, away from the noise and interruptions of humankind. If you have trees nearby, choose one for this activity. Second choice would be a bush or perennial flowers. If you are in a place that has no outdoor space or you must remain indoors, then cozy up to a houseplant. Lean with your back against the tree or sit near the plant.

Take several deep breaths while relaxing your muscles and clearing your mind of the day’s activities. As your mind clears, focus on the plant. Scrutinize the plant, looking carefully at each part, including the underside of its leaves. Notice the coloration of the various parts, the shape of the leaves, the bark or stem, each section of its blossoms. Are there any insects on the plant, if so, what are they doing?

Remember that the plant is giving off oxygen, which gives you the ability to live on this planet. Take a few moments to ingest this information. What would happen if plants did not exist? There would be no life on Earth. Give gratitude to the plants for the oxygen they freely supply.

All plants are a source of nutrition for humans, animals and insects. Their foliage, when left at their base, supplies nutrients to itself and the soil. In the wild, plants help retain the soil, allowing it to regenerate, supplying the necessary ingredients to support all life. Take time to thank all plants for their symbiotic relationship that works in balance to allow you to live on Earth.

With your eyes closed, try to feel the energy of the plant. This is easier to do when you are in a state of love and gratitude. As you practice with various plants, you will come to realize that individual plants have “personalities.” You may find that some species tend to have softer energy, while others feel more fiery. You may notice that your individual houseplants have different energies; some may seem needy while others emit good vibes.

When you become more attuned to their energies, you will discover they respond to your attention and neglect. Plants also respond to music and soothing voices. When you begin to pay more attention to your plants, you may find them calling to you, “Water me! Look at me! Sing to me!”

Go into nature often and become observant. Take time each day to give gratitude to plants and animals, recognizing and appreciating the balance they provide on Earth. Notice the soil and rocks and the symbiotic relationships they have to all. Realize that every step you take, every breath you make affects the Earth. Connect often with the Beings of Nature and learn to live simply, without judgment. Soon, your heart will be filled with joy as you notice the miracles that surround you! Selamet! Lamat 10

Katherine Ace

I watched at documentary earlier today on the most expensive paintings in the world. It made me think of art and how almost all of us could never own them, only the super rich. The irony of the value of a van Gogh, the artist who died with almost nothing. I also had to write a critic on Keats, Ode on a Grecian Urn, today, which makes me melancholy. He dies under a cloud of criticism of his work, whereas today is regarded as one of the greatest.

Now if I had some loose change and you have been around my blog for anytime, you would know I love Katherine Ace. She is just my favorite modern day artist. I would love to have her paintings in my home. So as I have been enjoying Deepaks meditations, I will visualize this. Don’t you just love this painting? I do.

Wishing Well 2 By Katherine Ace

My friend Barbara of, Me, My Magnificent Self, suggested I give the recipe of my fish tacos, so here you go. I am no food stylist like Johnny, of Feed the Piglet so I will stick with a painting by my muse Katherine Ace. Although my fish tacos are as colorful as they are flavorful. So in the spirit of last weeks water trine.

Music to cook by~

Sindy Sue’s Fish Taco’s

I use tilapia, but use your fish of choice.

I saute in a skillet with Cajun seasoning and some fresh lemon

(Takes like 4 minutes)

I make some Guacamole (mine is simple)

1 or 2 avocados diced

some salt, lemon juice and salsa

mash together~ done lol

Then I get a couple of white corn tortillas lightly toast or warm them.

I chop the fish up and place it in the center.

Top with guacamole

Top with salsa

Top with some fresh chopped cilantro

Add a couple halved cherry tomatoes

Top with a little mixed baby greens

Viola~

Easy, easy and yummy yummy~

(I can make them in like 20 minutes)

Somewhere a butterfly flaps its wings and Sindy makes fish tacos!

Especially good with my killer margaritas…..
