Letting Go Of Attachments

Letting go of attachments and possessions is not so easy but when it is all said and done is sort of freeing. About two years ago I left life as I knew it behind. Letting go of my Rent Control apartment in Los Angeles and just giving away almost all of my things. Now, I could say it was spiritual, and in part it was but I did not want to move the old. I had some very nice furniture pieces and a perfectly good bed and all sorts of assorted possessions that accumulate over the years. I can say that the letting go process allowed me to feel something unusual….freedom. Yes freedom, I knew that I had never felt it before, or not in a very long time. Maybe a memory of being care free when I was a girl riding my bicycle?

In Feng Shui the art of moving Chi or energy in your environment, the less clutter you have the more freely the chi moves in your living space. There is a whole lot more to it than that and I am certainly no authority on the subject. I had a couple of Feng Shui books but probably let them go in the move. I kept a few cherished and decorative items, a couple of pieces of furniture, books and kitchen items. Now I am considering releasing….well selling my cherished American hand blown glass. For one thing, I require their cash value. (lol) The other part of me says let them go, you are attached.

I have taken pictures of them but I have just been fighting that attachment and have not put them up om eBay. Attachment to ideas, things, people, habits…..it just goes on and on. Recently I had a divine message to let go, prepare to move. I tend to want to dig in, and nest. This bird need to lighten the load again. I mean, I really do not have a lot of possessions right now and I am cool with that.

My Qigong teacher once said in regards to Soul Retrieval, “Everything you possess has a piece of your consciousness,” therefore to be whole you need to reclaim those fragments, release the attachment. It is really not the thing but our attachment to them.

Can I have a Namaste?

I went through the same thing myself last year.
I sold, gave away or just discarded almost
everything I owned. I really don’t miss any
of it and it has become a little difficult to buy
or acquire things. I do feel lighter and more
free. I don’t know what it means yet, but I’m
    sure I will soon.

    • Yes I know what you mean. One thing I really am attached to and it is futile as it is gone, is my youth. lol

A lot of people have been uprooting for the last couple of years. I don’t know if it is directly correlated to the 2012 Collective Consciousness Phenomena or not. By that I am not saying anything world ending but there is that date stamped on us like a mark, we cannot escape this disturbance in the force. By that I just mean it unconsciously affects us. Does that make any sense?

[ Smiles ] Sindy, you have done well, my friend!

  3. Thank you my friend. Done well, in letting go or posting on letting go? lol 🙂

  4. Renard Moreau says:

[ Smiles ] You are welcome, Sindy.

Since I am so predictable, I might as well remain silent.

Keep up the good work, Sindy. The Universe is paying attention!

    • Oh no! Please! I am just joking, that was said in a smiling kind way. Darn, I thought you got my snarky humor. 😦

      • Renard Moreau says:

[ Chuckles ] You worry too much; that too you would need to let go of eventually.

I meant nothing drastic by my statement. Maybe my sense of humour baffles you.

I probably should of said: “Why should I tell you things that you intuitively know?”

      • Yes, yes…I figured but I didn’t want to loose those cherished comments. VBS means Very Big Smile

It was that naughty ego. I smacked her good. 😉

Well done! I have been contemplating doing this for a while… It must be a very liberating feeling.

  6. It is something we only usually do when we have to, not choice. lol
The emotion of freedom was so foreign I had to stop to see what it was.

I am not there yet, not ready to let go of everything I own. I only get rid of things at the end of the year as a renewal of my house and spaces.

  8. I wasn’t suggesting that anyone else follow suit but when I moved I needed to release it.It was amazingly freeing though. With time I am sure I could accumulate again. 🙂

Well said! I am going through the same thing with space and stuff! Great post; as always!

  10. Thanks Judy. It is especially freeing to let go of somethings you are really attached to. I had this beautiful antique hand painted cabinet from India, that I just gave to a friend. Funny thing is even though I let it go there is still some attachment.
